The beauty of a place like "Ungeren" is the variety of people attending the concerts and the various exhibitions of art etc.

That is what Copenhagen needs and what I support(ed).

I find it so hard to find the energy and will to talk to these kids (especially when some of the rioters are not even users of the house, as Casper rightly wrote).

And btw, they have found a sponsor, but they want to stay in Nørrebro and Københavns Kommune don't want to let them buy anything. The building that was once used by a fire department was an obvious choice, but it was owned by Copenhagen University (or something like that), so it couldn't be sold to them. And when everybody's so steep in their demanding, nothing good will ever happen. Only stuff like last night (and maybe tonight as well?).

Just a quick comment on this, but it sums up my feelings: Grow the **** up! If you're in such demand of a house, get a fund to sponsor you and buy a rundown place outside Copenhagen. Rioting has nothing to do with the Youth House ethics and it makes a lot of musicians and other affiliated people look bad. Then again most of the people involved in these riots are kids from up north with nothing better to do.

Well said Mark...I try not to take sides on this blog but having lived round the corner from Jagtvej 69 I feel personally involved in this story.

Someone I care about very much still lives in that neighbourhood so every time I see that there's been more riots my heart starts racing a bit.

I wish there was an easy way to resolve the situation, but I wonder sometimes if people seek such conflicts out. It seems surreal that so long after the Enlightenment humanity has progressed so little.

It's just plain stupid. They want their house which was - unethically and unfairly - taken away from them, and no one can blame them for demonstrating. It's their right (some would even say duty) to demonstrate for what they believe in, but terrorizing a whole neighborhood like that? It just hurts their case.

I can only tell how I feel about it all, and it has definitely not made their situation any easier this time around. Their support is falling apart and my confidence in their ability to act as civilized people just went down the drain.

Now I just hope they won't hurt any "normal" people with their trashing and rioting. It just doesn't belong in a civilized country with a democratic ideology.

(oh - and sorry for not calling today; I've been helping my dad and I didn't bring my cell. Nice seeing you friday, on the other hand - and yes, you were a bit drunk, but weren't we all? :)
